We can enable federation easily. That means on write.as I have an account @valvin@write.as which publish a message on Fediverse each time I publish a post. This message contains the whole article, title and its link. On Friendica I can read it entierely while on Mastodon I've the title and the link only.
The account name is the name of my first blog but link to my username. I've not tested with a second blog if it generates a second user. I don't think so but to be tested.
In stats about my blog I can see how many followers I have but the Fediverse intergration is ending at this.
Comparing with Plume Fediverse integration it misses a lot of interesting feature :
– if a fediverse user comments it appears on the post has a comment
– post author can reply with its blog account directly
– status of likes / reshares are presents
Maybe a workaround while these feature appears could be adding the fediverse account of the author in the post message. Thanks to it author could interact if someone is comments.
Once that said Writefreely's developer plans to develop Remark.as which will bring a comment solution to cover these needs but not only for WriteFreely. Unfortunately there is not yet a place to test it.
Few monthes later I am testing again writefreely.
Thing which is really nice is the design which makes you focus on writing. I'm wondering if this post after being plublished will be automatically available on Fediverse.
While writing i've just added @valvin@write.as on my Friendica account in order to test if I can comment / interact easily.
Write.as instance allowes additional services that are not available freely such as image hosting which is usually necessary for a real blog. It is really? I don't know.
On editor I can choose a dark mode which is the one I've chosen while writing. It is also possible to change fonts but only type : Serif, Sans-Serif, Monospace. There is also the word count available but only when I focus my pointer on the header. Text should support markdown but while typing we don't really know as there is no direct interpretation of it. I think this choice is volonteer to focus on text only.
I like the idea of having different blogs natively which can make easier to categorize post theme or language for example. (as you can read I'm not english native).
Things to know is Writefreely can be hosted easily and should brings different options than write.as allowes by default.
To continue testing I have to publish these 200 hundreds words and check how it appears on the Fediverse :)
Edit : Post appearing well on Fediverse. But unfortunately comments are not yet present on write.as side.
Write.As Day #2
Yesterday night I've discovered quickly write.as. This morning I've exchange on Discuss about the feature request I'd like.
First is a preview mode, so it looks like it already like one if use draft mode. So I'll test it right now and let you know the result ...
... I've not found it but maybe this feature is disable for free account like mine ?
About comments there is no integration at the moment and looks like it won't directly inside the product but more has an extension like snap.as for pictures. It'll be Remark.as but doesn't looks like to be linked to the activity protocol account.
I really like the project but the Fediverse integration limited to only publication is a bit sad ... it is my personal opinion.
It looks like writefreely is a bit different so I'll have a look to check the difference. Then I'll have a look to other similar project.
Write.as in Free version
So in that version I can post in markdown my post. I've limited option but looks enought to start.
My first feedback is that editor has no preview (or I've not found it). And you have to host yourself your image which is no very great for micro-blogging (NOTE : it is available for PRO users : snap.as)
Good thing is that you can edit a post without any problem which is not the case for other Fediverse software.
Now I'll test comments from Mastodon with this post.
Hi !
As a first post I'll do a short introduction :)
I'm Valvin I'm french and interested in federated project and more globally in project which decentralized back the Internet.
I use frequently Fediverse on several account so why not using one more with Write.as? I'm already blogginghere but it is in french so this account will be in english.
